Esper made his Broadway debut opposite Frank Langella in the Roundabout Theatre Company's "A Man for All Seasons." On Broadway, Esper originated the role of Will in the Tony Award-winning musical "American Idiot." He has appeared in the Tony-nominated production of Nicky Silver's "The Lyons," as well as in "Assistance," "As You Like It," "Big Bill," "Crazy Mary," "Manic Flight Reaction," "The Four of Us" and "Suburbia."

Esper's film and television credits include the soon-to-be released Brad Furman drama "Runner, Runner," alongside Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake. Esper also appeared in "All Good Things," "A Beautiful Mind," "Bittersweet Place," "Bunker Hill," "Law & Order," "Loggerheads" and "Watching TV with the Red Chinese."

Esper won the Clarence Derwent Award from the Actors' Equity Association in 2008 and received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor from The Irish Times for "Long Day's Journey Into Night."
