As Jennifer's appendix is about to burst, Daniel and Nicole are unable to catch the ferry off the island to get her to a hospital. Forced to do impromptu surgery, Daniel returns to form - and Nicole watches in awe as he saves Jennifer's life with steady hands. While Nicole is out getting antibiotics from his medical bag, a grateful Jennifer has a brief moment of consciousness - which she uses to tell Daniel she loves him.
