Bo, Hope, Carrie and Rafe approach Marlena to get permission to approach Stefano with the "courtesy card" he gave Alice in exchange for helping EJ all those years ago. They want to use it to force Stefano to pull whatever strings necessary to clear John. Marlena knows how John will feel about getting help from Stefano and is torn. Finally, she gives her assent and Bo and Hope leave, anxious to get an answer from Stefano.
