Off Marlena's revelation, John storms into the DiMera mansion to confront Stefano. He hates that his freedom is in any way the result of Stefano's help. Stefano enjoys goading John about it to the extent that he hands him a pistol and tells him to shoot him. John comes close, especially when Stefano claims he and Marlena share a bond. He thinks it's telling that Marlena didn't inform John before she accepted Stefano's help.
