EJ returns home to find Nicole never made it back from the lodge. He learns Nicole was seen leaving with a handsome man. Meanwhile, Nicole goes into preterm labor at the clinic and her baby dies. Nicole is inconsolable. Nick asks Maggie to allow Melanie to stay at her house. Chelsea confronts Nick about Melanie and tells him that Melanie is to blame for what happened to him. After an argument, John finally realizes the significance of Marlena's ultimatum and agrees to one meeting with a psychiatrist, but on his own terms. Melanie applies for an administrative assistant job online. She later learns the job is for Titan, and Philip is the interviewer. Philip refuses to hire her. Maggie invites Melanie to stay at her house. Melanie asks her if she could loan her some money but Maggie refuses. Chelsea overhears.
