Hope and the killer face-off at the hospital as the killer holds Kayla hostage. At the same time, Bo and Steve connect, and realize Hope and Kayla are on a collision course at the hospital, but by the time they arrive, Hope, in an effort to subdue the killer, shoots Kayla by mistake. Bo and Steve take down the killer, and Hope is horrified. Lexie is on the case and rushes Kayla into surgery. Bo tells Hope not to blame herself. It was an accident. Bo admits that if anyone is to blame it should be him. Hope is pained to learn that Bo's vision was of her shooting Kayla. Nicole and "her" baby greet EJ. After a pleasant moment with his new family, EJ thinks the baby looks like Nicole, but then after noticing a birth mark, he thinks it looks like someone else. Nicole, in some ways assuaging her own guilt, breaks down and tells EJ about how the baby was having breathing troubles when it was born. Alarmed, EJ wants another doctor to checkout Nicole and the baby. Nicole will allow the baby, but not her. She's fine and Nicole is "discharged". However, a nurse nearly unwittingly brings up "Colleen" and the nun to EJ, but Dr. Baker covers. When Nicole and EJ prepare to leave with their baby, EJ thanks Nicole for giving him a complete family. At the convent, Sami, Sister Theresa, and Sister Mary Margret nurse Rafe back to health. Thinking the killer is still out there, Sister Theresa moves Sami and Rafe to a secluded room in the convent. Rafe regains consciousness and calls in for reinforcements, but learns the killer has been caught. Sami can go home, but Rafe has a hunch that Sami's not ready, and she admits she isn't. Philip returns to the Cheatin' Heart where he and Stephanie express that they're falling in love with each other. The two arrive at the Kiriakis mansion to make love, but are interrupted when Stephanie receives upsetting news from Steve about her mom being shot.
