Lexie is being called before the hospital board. They will be reviewing Lexie's performance as Chief of Staff. Daniel is called in for his opinion and defends Lexie. Philip runs into Kate, who's coughing and trying to catch her breath. Philip takes Kate to the hospital, where she is put on oxygen and told to rest. She starts to cough again and this time, coughs up blood. The new mayor is not happy about the Salem P.D.'s response to the hospital lockdown and must seek someone's resignation. Abe accuses the mayor of taking a bribe from Stefano DiMera. The mayor is outraged by Abe's accusations. Abe resigns so he can work outside law enforcement. He is still determined to bring down Stefano. Nicole tells EJ she's not feeling well. She wants to run off together - go live on a private island. EJ can't leave Salem, but wants to explore a relationship with Nicole.
