Sami tends to a sick Rafe with true concern, but sees an opportunity to make a call. Meanwhile, Nicole is confronted by EJ about disappearing on New Year's Eve and covers, but realizes her search for a child is more important than ever. She takes matters into her own hands and hunts down Dr. Baker. While Bo gives Philip some advice, Stephanie makes a discovery about Melanie. Melanie is reconsidering her designs on Philip even as Philip and Stephanie, coming from different places emotionally, nearly derail. The two end up reconnecting, passionately. Meanwhile, Melanie has learned that Nick's sentencing date has been set and she begins forming a new plan on how to get Philip using Nick's sentencing to do it. Bo is overworked, but Hope points out that he hasn't had any visions since Christmas, and he needs to take a romantic break with her. Bo finally agrees. At the DiMera mansion, a reluctant Lexie brings Theo to see Stefano, but gets into a fight with him over the boy and his diet. Theo wanders off during the argument, and climbs up the stairs. Horrified, Bo flashes to the event as Theo loses his balance and falls.
