Desperate, Philip inadvertently comes across Brady and Nicole and realizes they are keeping something from EJ. He confronts Nicole, accusing her of having an affair with Brady. She denies, but Philip can tell Brady and her share a secret. He uses this information to give Nicole an ultimatum. Nicole initially resists and nearly calls Philip's bluff, but in the end Nicole agrees in trying to get EJ to back off pursuing the Alternative Fuels Project. Meanwhile, EJ breaks up a fight between Stephanie and Melanie, but the darker side of him comes out as he puts the screws to Melanie, forcing her to sign a contract which gives the DiMeras the rights to develop the fuels project. Brady shows up and confronts EJ, but EJ blows him off and leaves. Brady talks to Melanie and realizes Philip may have dug his own grave regarding the fuels project. At the same time, Stephanie breaks up with Philip, stating that she can't deal with his business persona. Back at the DiMera mansion, EJ returns and Nicole tries to plea with EJ not to mess with the Kiriakis family.
After Maggie informs Daniel that she told a drunken Lucas about the affair, Daniel tries to reach Chloe. Meanwhile at Daniel's apartment, Chloe finds Lucas not breathing after the explosion. She desperately tries to bring him back to life and makes a pact with God that she will spend the rest of her days by Lucas' side if God lets him live. Chloe is about to give up hope when suddenly Lucas regains consciousness. In a state of shock, Chloe rushes to Lucas who can't remember much. Daniel arrives and eventually confirms at the hospital that Lucas is basically in perfect shape. Chloe realizes she must keep her promise.
