Stefano learns that EJ has discovered Nicole's secret about adopting Sydney. Assuming Nicole has admitted everything, Stefano nearly spills the rest. When he realizes EJ is still in the dark about the complete truth, Stefano covers and buys himself some time to decide the best course of action. However, he is very upset to learn that Nicole has physical custody of Sydney and urges EJ to find her and bring her back. EJ resists, but before Stefano can reveal the whole truth, Stefano has a serious cardiac episode. Lexie, afraid Stefano's heart can't handle any more stress, tells EJ he needs to leave. Later, EJ tells Kate that his father is awake, but his prognosis is undetermined. EJ faces up to the idea that Stefano might never be the omnipotent presence in their lives that he's always been. Nicole, meanwhile, has come to the DiMera mansion to get Sydney's passport before fleeing town. She runs into a nosy Kate, who threatens to call EJ and tell him Nicole's leaving town. Nicole persuades Kate that it's in everyone's best interest that she leaves, and Kate bids Nicole a not-so-fond farewell. Nicole boards a plane with Sydney headed for Rio. Later, as Nicole gets comfy on the plane, she receives a phone call from Stefano who's now awake. He wants her to bring the baby to him instantly. Mia and Chad both try to hire Justin as their lawyer. Tension escalates between Will and Chad at the lawyer's meeting, ending with them getting into a fight. Justin tries to mediate and ultimately says he can't represent either Mia or Chad, after finding out that the custody battle is for Sydney DiMera. It's an unwise case for him to be involved in, considering the family feud. He gently warns Mia that she is going to have a tough time winning this case. Later, Chad tells Mia he's hired another lawyer and he is going to win. Victor comes to Bo's house and finds Hope, who's moving the rest of her things out. She reveals that she's thinking of taking Ciara on a cruise with Doug and Julie. Victor persuades her to stay in town with him. Hope agrees. Later, Justin learns that Hope is moving in and promises to help make her feel welcome. Brady's surprise date for Arianna almost backfires in a major way. Arianna briefly reconsiders the wisdom of rekindling their relationship, but she can't resist her feelings. She and Brady enjoy dinner and dancing and later make love. Victor comes to the Brady Pub looking for Arianna and discovers it's her night off and Brady isn't answering his cell. Victor is angry as he suspects they are together.
