EJ reveals to Nicole that he had second thoughts about Sydney and decided he wanted her in his life, but not Nicole. He realizes if Chad presses his rights as a father, neither of them will have Sydney. He tells Nicole to leave, and take Sydney with her. Sami visits Grace's grave and talks to Maggie about the pain from losing a child. Sami thinks Nicole is worried Sydney's mother is going to take her and ironically resolves to help her by returning to the DiMera mansion to confront EJ. Later, Sami learns from EJ that it's Chad they're worried about, and realizes Mia is Sydney's mother. She tells EJ that a mother can do no wrong when it comes to protecting her child. At the same time, Nicole goes to an unconscious Stefano and expresses her worry that if Chad gets DNA testing, it'll come out he's not the father and that will only lead to the reveal that Sami is Sydney's mother. She needs to stop Chad, needs to think like Stefano to figure out how. She suddenly gets an idea and calls Chad to meet. Chad tells Mia and Will that he saw Sydney, and Mia freaks. Chad unleashes his rage on Mia for her lies and playing him. When Chad calls her a whore, Will goes after him, but Mia stops it. She has a word alone with Chad and tries to get him not to pursue Sydney. Chad won't listen to her any more, and tells her he hates her and leaves as Will comforts a distressed Mia. Arianna goes to Brady to apologize for her role in his secret with Nicole blowing up. Brady's defensive at first, but when Arianna reveals her concern that he'll start using again, he realizes she still has feelings for him and it builds to a kiss. After hearing from Father Matt, Chloe's annulment from Lucas comes through and Daniel and Chloe finally make love.
