Sami and Stefano keep vigil while EJ is in surgery. Lucas pleads with Sami to come home with him but she insists she can't. At the scene of the crime, Roman recalls sneaking into the church and aiming a gun at EJ. He remembers how he decided not to shoot at the last minute. Bo and Shawn question Lucas, who insists he was nowhere near the church. He also denies knowing Kate had a gun. Later, Lucas packs up his gun and ships it to himself. Stefano heads home and finds Kate in his living room. Kate swears she didn't shoot EJ. Bo arrives and demands to know where Kate's gun is. Kate says she threw it in a dumpster after her confrontation with the DiMeras. Kate gets a call from Philip demanding to know more about the gun she asked him to hide. Roman discovers a bullet hole in Sami's wedding outfit and concludes EJ may not have been the only one who was supposed to die. Philip gives Belle and Claire a ride home from the hospital. Philip suggests he and Belle meet somewhere alone and Belle gleans he's suggesting an affair. Philip makes it clear he's not giving up on her and pulls her into a white-hot kiss.
