Austin Reed played by Patrick Muldoon
An aspiring boxer, Austin came to town with his troubled sister Billie and was instantly smitten with Carrie Brady. Carrie gave Billie a place to stay, which led to the two of them spending a lot of time together. Carrie and Austin were doing great, until Austin didn't throw a fight and drew the ire of a lot of bad people. In retaliation, acid was thrown on Carrie's face, scarring her.
Carrie went through reconstructive surgery, while Austin dealt with the murder of his father, Curtis. Billie was the prime suspect. At the trial, both Billie and Austin learned that Kate Roberts was their biological mother - making Lucas Roberts their half-brother. Meanwhile, Carrie's half-sister Sami was obsessed with Austin and plotting any way she could to get her man.
Sami went so far as to drug and rape Austin, making him believe she was Carrie. Carrie and Austin managed to survive all the drama and plan their wedding. Sami of course ruined the day with the announcement that she was pregnant with Austin's child (which was a total lie). Austin tried to do the right thing and actual made a go of it with Sami, before learning the truth. The baby's father was actually Austin's half-brother, Lucas!
In a convoluted scheme involving Will's abduction, Sami actually got Austin to marry her; however, the marriage was eventually annulled, and Austin reunited with Carrie. Their married bliss didn't last long, however, due to the constant meddling of Sami and Lucas. Austin and Carrie both left Salem and each other.
Austin returned to town and was surprised to see Carrie home as well. Austin suggested to Carrie that they move to Switzerland where he could work at the Mythic Communications division there and Carrie could reclaim High Style, her former company. Carrie agreed on one condition - that they get married first. The two immediately went to the Justice of the Peace with their signed marriage licenses and got married, but not before getting briefly interrupted by a drunk Sami; and Carrie disowning her. After saying their goodbyes to John, Kate, Marlena and Roman, Austin and Carrie took a plane and left Salem.
Patrick Muldoon plays Austin Reed
Born and raised in San Pedro, California, Patrick Muldoon attended the University of Southern California and played football for the Trojans. He started his career in the entertainment business as a model for Calvin Klein. Soon thereafter, he tried acting, and it became his life-long passion.
He made his small screen debut as Matt on Who's the Boss? with Tony Danza, and went on to play Jeffrey Hunter, who famously broke up Kelly and Zack in NBC's Saved By the Bell.
Patrick's career took off when he originated the role of Austin Reed on NBC's Days of our Lives and won the Soap Opera Digest award for best new comer.
After leaving Days, he became a series regular on Fox's Melrose Place and then received his first big screen break, playing Zander Barkalow in Paul Verhoven's Starship Troopers .
While doing a decade of movies and television, Patrick also turned his attention to song writing. He is the lead singer of the band, The Sleeping Masses, as well as a solo artist and writer for other musical acts. Many films and television programs have featured Patrick's songs, most notably The Hills and Jessica Biel's Powder Blue.
Patrick is also VP of development for the production company Eclectic Pictures (Playing the Field, Trust, Lovelace), and plays the lead in Millennium Picture's big screen release of Spider's 3-D, coming out in 2012.
But, most importantly, he has reprised his role as Austin Reed on NBC's Days of our Lives returning to the part that first put him on the map.
