Lucas Horton played by Bryan Dattilo
Lucas Roberts came to Salem with his mother Kate, upon returning from military school. Upon arrival, he befriended Sami Brady and the two began their scheming relationship that continues to this day. Sami wanted Austin, who was in love with her sister Carrie, and Lucas wanted Carrie, who was in love with Austin. Lucas told Sami that if she lost some weight she might get Austin to notice her, so Sami went on a crash diet.
Sami's plots continued and eventual brought Carrie and Lucas together, freeing up Austin for Sami. Eventually, Lucas's mom Kate learned the truth and exposed both Lucas and Sami. Carrie and Austin were reunited. A later accident left Sami with amnesia, which Lucas used to his advantage. He pushed Sami towards Austin, to keep him away from Carrie. Even as Sami's memories started to return, Lucas got Sami to help him with a new plot to convince Austin that Carrie was falling in love with Mike Horton. Lucas thought that once Austin gave up on Carrie, he could easily steal her from Mike. Once Austin was free, Sami was planning to steal him from Carrie.
As usual, the truth eventually came out. Austin and Carrie were married. Lucas learned that Sami was blackmailing his mother, but Kate refused to tell him what Sami had on her. After Sami and Franco became engaged, Lucas refused to let Franco become Will's stepfather. Franco was later murdered, and Sami was charged with the crime, although Lucas was the culprit. Sami was almost executed, but Lucas confessed at the last possible moment.
After being injured in a fire his mother set to the Kiriakis Mansion, Lucas was sent away to a rehab center to heal. Eventually, Lucas came out of his coma and was able to come back to Salem, but he was still partially paralyzed. Lucas seemed to really want to make amends, but he showed his true colors at Austin and Sami's wedding when he exposed the truth and ruined the wedding. Eventually, with Victor's help, Lucas got joint custody of Will, whom he took with him for a summer in Africa.
Lucas (as well as his mother) was one of the main suspects when the Salem Stalker started a murder spree. When the Stalker's identity was revealed to be Sami's mother, Marlena, Lucas was there for Sami. She and Lucas grew closer as he tried to help her through this difficult time, until they finally made love. Lucas even proposed to Sami, but with a caveat; she had to promise to redeem herself and to never lie to him again.
Sami and Lucas became engaged, but Kate did everything in her power to make sure they never walked down the aisle. She even brought Sami's ex Brandon Walker back to town. With Kate's help, "fate" intervened. Lucas found Sami and Brandon in bed together on the morning of the wedding. He was devastated. As much as he loved Sami, he couldn't forgive her for this. He ripped up the marriage license and swore he never wanted anything else to do with her. Sami tried to convince him that Kate was responsible; but his mother smooth talked him, and he only blamed his ex-fiance.
Lucas fell on hard times and, after being fired by Victor, took a job working for the man he despised: EJ Wells. EJ had returned to town after being cleared of his criminal charges.
Lucas proposed to Sami, and she was hesitant at first, but accepted. Lucas was also excited to hear Sami was pregnant, a secret she wanted to keep from EJ - especially because of the possibility of EJ being the father.
Lucas and Sami started to plan a wedding, and EJ gave Lucas a month off with pay to enjoy his honeymoon. Lucas was suspicious of EJ's intentions, but he let it go. Meanwhile, Kate was desperate to find evidence that Sami was keeping a secret that involved EJ. Kate's day was made when she found a picture of Sami with EJ on the night of the blizzard. She knew she had what she needed to tear Sami and Lucas apart for good.
When Kate presented the picture at Sami and Lucas' wedding reception, Sami pleaded with Lucas: he did not know the whole story of that night. Lucas took Sami's hand and told her he still wanted to be her husband. That night, Sami confessed all of her secrets to Lucas, including being blackmailed into having sex with EJ to save Lucas' life. They left for a honeymoon in New Orleans where they discovered letters from the past that revealed more about the Brady/DiMera feud that had haunted Salem for so many years. When they returned to Salem with the letters, Sami also discovered she was pregnant with twins. A DNA test showed EJ was the father.
Stefano told Sami the only way to end the Brady/DiMera feud was to marry EJ. Lucas was against the divorce, but when John was presumably killed by a hit-and-run driver, Sami realized she had to marry EJ to save the other members of the Brady family.
Sami gave birth to twins, and a second DNA test revealed that Lucas was the father of her baby girl and EJ was the father of her baby boy. After Sami recovered, EJ pushed her to marry him.
After the small ceremony, EJ was shot at the altar. Stefano forced Sami to stand by her new husband as he recovered from his gunshot wound. But Sami couldn't fight her feelings for Lucas, and the two continued to see each other. When Sami refused to leave EJ because of Stefano's demands, Lucas alerted Sami that he would seek full custody of their daughter, Alice Caroline Horton.
Meanwhile, evidence was piling up on Lucas for the shooting of EJ. Lucas was sent to prison to await trial, and his life was saved when EJ alerted the police of a murder plot Stefano had orchestrated inside Lucas' prison cell.
Sami and EJ fled to a safe house after Stefano threatened the twins' lives. A heartbroken Lucas admitted he was the one who shot EJ, and after a tearful goodbye to Sami, he was taken to state prison. Shortly after, he was released due to overcrowding.
Lucas subsequently entered a messy custody battle with EJ and Sami over the children and also had a torrid romance with Chloe Lane. After their relationship crumbled, Lucas decided to start a new life outside of Salem and left for Hong Kong, only returning for Alice Horton's funeral. Lucas now returns to Salem to support Sami in her time of need... though Sami is less than thrilled to learn that Lucas has a fiance back in Hong Kong.
Bryan Dattilo plays Lucas Horton
Bryan Dattilo plays the mischievous Lucas Horton on NBC's "Days of our Lives."
When Dattilo walked onto the playground of his Beverly Hills grade school for the very first time, all the kids wanted to know who his agent was. To Dattilo's surprise, his mother informed him that only kids who were actors had agents. Within a few weeks Dattilo and his sister, Kristin, decided that if they were to fit in at school, they also needed an agent. Dattilo began acting classes and within a year had his Hollywood agent.
Although Dattilo was born in Kankakee, Illinois, his family moved back and forth between Los Angeles and Florida to accommodate his mother's journalism career. The Dattilo family permanently moved to California when his mother decided to break loose from her career and start her own television and film company, Harbour Lights Entertainment. This provided an opportunity for Dattilo to return to the acting world and, within only a couple of weeks, he and his sister landed lead roles in the feature film "The Adventures of Grizzly Adams." He also had a starring role in the feature film, Arcade. Some of Bryan's other TV appearances include "Doogie Howser, M.D.," "In the Heat of the Night," "Charles in Charge" and "California Dreams."
Dattilo graduated from Beverly Hills High School and attended Santa Monica College where he majored in psychology; he hoped to become a psychologist if a career in acting didn't pan out. It was while filming a movie in Utah that he first became a fan of "Days of our Lives." He would then join his grandmother while she watched "Days." When Dattilo landed the part of Lucas Roberts he could not wait to phone her and share the good news. It was a dream come true for her! The only worry became trying to figure out where to store all the tapes on which she recorded her grandson's daily performances.
Dattilo currently resides in Los Angeles. He enjoys weight training and spending all his free time with his son, Gabe. His birthday is July 29.
