Suzanne Rogers | Maggie Horton

Suzanne Rogers joined the cast of "Days of our Lives" in July 1973, and six years later won an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Maggie Horton.

Rogers began her career at the age of 17 when she left her hometown of Colonial Heights, Virginia, to join the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. She moved to Los Angeles in 1973.

Rogers dedicates much of her spare time to helping people afflicted with myasthenia gravis, a rare muscle disease with which she was diagnosed in 1984. She is currently in remission and lives a strong and healthy life. Her birthday is July 9.

Maggie was a disabled and orphaned farm girl when amnesiac Mickey stumbled to her doorstep. Once in her Prince Charming's arms, Maggie found the medical help she needed to walk again, but emotional pressures (moving to Salem, Mickey's true identity, issues around motherhood and having a foster child taken away) led her through a tough bout with alcohol, which she eventually overcame. She also suffers from myasthenia gravis.

When Mickey was presumed dead, Maggie nearly married Don Craig. She also received romantic attention from Dr. Neil Curtis, who turned out to be the sperm donor of her child, Sarah.

When the Salem Stalker started her killing spree, Maggie found herself in possession of some dangerous knowledge. Locked deep within her psyche was the identity of the killer. On Halloween night, this knowledge proved deadly. Maggie let the killer - obviously a friend - into her home. The recovering alcoholic was bludgeoned to death with a liquor bottle.

Of course Maggie, like all the other victims and the killer herself, wasn't really dead. She was living in a parallel universe, a tropical version of Salem, unable to contact her family and friends back home or to escape. Finally, some "living" Salemites arrived to save them and Maggie made it home to Salem!

Unfortunately, Maggie returned to discover that Mickey had remarried in her absence, to her housekeeper, Bonnie Lockhart! And Bonnie wasn't about to give up her new status as a Horton without a fight.

Bonnie thought Maggie was going to receive a divorce settlement from Mickey, and he was going to choose her! She was wrong. Mickey pledged his love to Maggie. They had a few more good years together, but Maggie was devastated in 2010 by Mickey's death. The stress also caused a recurrence of her illness. Thankfully, Victor Kiriakis was there to support her.

As Maggie and Victor spent more time together, she realized that she was developing feelings for him. Victor's wife, Vivian, was not happy about his friendship with Maggie. Vivian hatched a plan to bury Maggie alive. Victor finally figured out where Maggie was and rescued her.

A war between the Kiriakises and the DiMeras broke out, and Maggie was caught in the crossfire. She suffered serious injuries. Maggie went to Victor's house to recover. As soon as she regained her strength, Maggie made plans to move out. Victor asked her to stay, but Maggie said that she wouldn't live with a man unless they were married. A few weeks later, at the opening of the Horton Town Square, Victor proposed. Maggie was thrilled to accept, and they were married in November 2011.

Victor wasn't the only new man in Maggie's life. Bo and Hope discovered that Maggie's eggs were used by another woman to conceive a child. A woman named Lillian Parker had used the eggs, making Daniel Maggie's biological son. Maggie worked hard to form a relationship with her new son and continue the already blooming relationship with her granddaughter, Melanie. When she learned that Victor was responsible for the theft of her eggs, she briefly left him, but they finally reconciled.

With her personal life in great shape, Maggie set out to expand her professional life. In May 2012, she purchased the Intensity Day Spa.
