Owens, who is from the San Francisco Bay area of California, began his career with modeling. He has appeared in several issues of GQ and in many commercial/print campaigns for the Gap, Polo, Izod and Sperry. He has the distinction of being the second African-American ever to be featured in a fragrance campaign for Polo Ralph Lauren Big Pony.
After making the switch to acting, Owens began appearing in music videos and played the love interest to Rihanna in her music video for "California King Bed." Soon after, he landed a spot opposite Nicki Minaj in her music video "Va Va Voom," directed by Hype Williams. Additionally, he served as a host of NBC's "First Look LA."
During this time, flirtations between Cameron and Abigail evolved into a more serious relationship, and the two began dating, receiving the support of both Jack and Jennifer. But after Abigail's father died, their romance fizzled, and the two amicably went their separate ways.
He briefly dated another woman, but soon Abigail returned to him and they rekindled their love. Cameron discovered Abigail's membership in the "Golden Circle" club in high school - a group of kids who promised to wait until marriage for sex. Despite this, Cameron assured Abigail that they could take their relationship at her pace.
Another secret emerged that rocked not only Abigail, but the whole town of Salem - Cameron was moonlighting as a stripper! News spread and Cameron feared retribution from the hospital. But when hospital administrators visited his club to see him dance, Cameron received surprise support on stage from Daniel, Rafe and Brady. The audience loved it; clearly his stripping would not hurt the hospital's reputation.
Cameron's comfort did not last long, though, as he discovered Abigail flirting with an old flame of hers - Chad DiMera, who is ready to give their relationship another try. Cameron vows to keep him and Abigail together - but is it a promise he can keep?
