Freddie Smith | Jackson Sonny Kiriakis

Freddie Smith joins the cast of "Days of our Lives" as Jackson "Sonny" Kiriakis, son of Justin and Adrienne.

With incredible talent combined with a drive to make it to the top, Smith is one of the most watched rising stars today. As the "hot and super athletic" Marco on the "90210," Smith proved that he belongs in Hollywood showcasing his explosive acting abilities and charismatic demeanor.

Born and raised in Ashtabula, Ohio, Smith discovered his love for the arts as a teenager, and it seemed only natural for him to pack his bags and move to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. He arrived in Los Angeles shortly after his high school graduation in 2006, and in less than a year, Smith booked a role on "Medium" and appeared in the short film "Weak Species." Smith also landed several national commercials including for Taco Bell, JC Penney, Petsmart and Samsung.

In addition to his recurring role on "90210," Smith appeared in the independent comedy "One Wish."

While on set and studying what happens behind the scenes, Smith became interested in directing and producing and has begun drafting concepts for movies and TV shows. Smith is enjoying staying busy while pursuing his career and credits his parents for instilling a life-long work ethic, which he uses in every aspect of his life.

Sonny Kiriakis is the son of Justin Kiriakis and Adrienne Johnson. He moved to Salem in 2011 to be close to his parents and ended up attending the local college.

When he first arrived in Salem, Sonny came out to his Uncle Victor. As he settled in, he became friends with the younger crowd in Salem. While his family and friends accepted him for who he is, he ran into conflict with some less open-minded people.

After a brief internship with the Salem D.A., Sonny embarked on some entrepreneurial opportunities. Will, Chad and Sonny decided to launch a website surrounding Salem U's sports teams. The website was a huge success and quickly gained visitors. However, one day Chad noticed some suspicious activity on the message boards. It appeared that someone was using their website to give odds in an illegal gambling operation. After following a trace on the IP address, the boys learned that their entire website had been hacked and was a front for a gambling ring. The boys attempted to shut it down; they did so without Melanie, Gabi or Abigail knowing and thought everything was fine.

But, the trouble wasn't near over for them. When the men behind the gambling ring found out that the boys had shut down their website, they kidnapped Melanie and Chad and held them hostage until Will and Sonny got the site back up. Gabi and Abigail went to track down Melanie and Chad, and luckily, Melanie, Chad, Abigail and Gabi were not harmed. But, Will finally did talk to Rafe, Bo and Hope. The men behind the gambling ring were arrested.

Sonny decided to open a coffee shop in Salem, "Common Grounds," a place where people of all different lifestyles could feel comfortable. Chad partnered with Sonny, but Will did not want to participate. Sonny noticed that Will was withdrawn, and the two became good friends. Sonny helped Will come out of the closet, supporting him through the entire process. Sonny developed feelings for Will soon after. The question is, does Will reciprocate?
