In a city the size of Los Angeles, Station 51 of the LA County Fire Department never has time to rest. Paramedics John Gage and Roy Desoto respond to emergencies large and small, often putting themselves in harm's way to save a life. Aiding them in their daily life-or-death adventures is the staff at Rampart Hospital, including doctors Brackett and Early as well as Head Nurse Julie McCall.
