Ali, I just want to say it has been a pleasure to watch you grow up on Days. Your the best!! I have been missing Days for 2 weeks, I am in San Diego at a fitness camp this summer. I have been coming since my daughter was 6th grade. I work as a camp nurse and now my daughter is living here. Wow huh. we have been days fans for all her life. lol. Dear Alison,
Forgive me, but I've posted in two locations in hopes you will read this despite the length.
I feel compelled to write to you, a fact which is peculiar to me, as I don’t believe I have ever written to a celebrity before. I have found myself in the unique position of being unable to work due to an injury and I am pursuing some different ways to make use of my time, hence this letter. I have also been reading for pleasure lately and I’m looking forward to reading some of the books you’ve recommended. I am currently reading novels by Steve Berry. They are fascinating, complex, and well written, but I digress.

I have been watching Days of Our Lives since I was in junior high school in the early eighties; I assume I must have gotten sucked in during a summer vacation, I don’t quite remember for sure. I have enjoyed watching you as Sami Brady over the years, although I would have been reluctant to admit in the past that I liked Sami, as she seemed so dishonest and damaging to others. There was something about the way you portrayed her though, that I thought was intriguing and made me want to cheer for her as one of the marginalized: the outcast, the underdog. I love the way you have brought such depth and humanness to her, and the way her growth and evolution feel so natural and heartfelt. Also, I’m amazed how you continue to look so young! Anyway, bravo to you, and thank you! Incidentally, I think “soap” stars are highly underrated, as they seem to be some of the hardest working people in the business. Not as if I know much, if anything, about “the business”, but your dedication is obvious.

If you are friendly with the writers, I hope you will tell them that DOOL is really interesting for the first time in many years (in my humble opinion), especially where Sami and her relationships are concerned. I think it is wonderful that Lucas has reacted in such a loving way towards Sami, because it is unexpected and also shows growth in his character. Even E.J.’s behavior towards Sami has been surprising. Its great to be surprised because it seems like things, especially on soaps, get so predictable, like the writers are using the same formula over and over. I also think its great that the Dimeras are back; it is really fun to see some of the “old” faces again! I look forward to seeing how things unfold in Salem. Also, I must say I was really impressed with the green wedding. I think it was a brilliant way to champion eco-friendly resources and options, and raise awareness of something which is fast becoming a critical situation.

I am very excited to hear that you will be hosting The Biggest Loser. I don’t mean any offense to Caroline Rhea, as I think she is a brilliant comedienne and is quite charismatic. For me, there was something about her that did not fit well with that show. I know she was following a script and doing her job as the host, but it disturbed me that she had to sort of judge other people that were overweight because, in the back of my mind, I kept thinking that she needed to follow the advice that the contestants were being given. I’m sure she must have gained so much knowledge and many tools for being a healthy weight, but it didn’t seem like she was utilizing those tools. As a result, I felt like she was being hypocritical and I just stopped watching the show. I’m sure I don’t know the whole story, perhaps that is her appearance under the best of circumstances; I don’t mean to be judgmental. I do like the show and I think the message of being healthy physically and mentally is so needed in our society. I have a lot of respect for you, as I think you portray an image that is healthy and attractive, and I know that you have put a lot of time and effort into that. I remember how different you looked in the nineties! Anyway, The Biggest Loser seems like a great fit for you and I will be watching.

I thank you for entertaining your fans with your blog and behind the scenes peeks; it is very interesting! You seem so friendly and approachable and I think it is generous of you to share a bit of your personal life, as I don’t suppose you have a lot of “spare” time to do so. I hope you continue to be successful and have a rewarding life. Thanks again for all the entertainment!

I am so DIGGING the Santeen storyline...this summer is going to be fantastic. I'm sure you'll do a great job with the accent. I'd bet that James can help you get into character, because James did a great job with the Irish accent in that hilarious scene with JKJ a few months ago!!

Hi Ali,
Get some rest. That is what most people tell me when they see me going from my full-time job to my 2,3 or 4 part-time jobs. I've lost count. I'm even considering another one as a Paid Extra for movies. On last Monday I worked my full-time job and then drove an hour and a half to be a volunteer extra for a movie. It was great. I had a fabulous time. The actors were real nice(Julia Stiles, Angela Bassett, Nia Long, Danny Glover, etc)..Good thing most of my part-time jobs are not mandatory. If I can't make it in I just need to find a replacement. There is just so many concerts, sporting events, plays, and comedy shows I can work. Enjoy your week off Ali.

By the way everyone, I've met Ali in Greenville, SC quite a few times over the past 5 years. She won't be able to attend this year. Ali is indeed one of the most nicest person I've ever met. I will always remember last year how you was in the hotel hallway talking to 5 or 6 of us about Ben. Have a safe Holiday everyone.

What are your thoughts about all those fans who want to see Sami and EJ together??

You see, aside from being a huge LUMI fan since 1994. . .the idea of a romantic storyline stemming from a mental and physical attack sickens me. I'm a rape survivor and reading all those blogs, comments, post, etc have really bothered me. I do hope that DOOL stays away from that idea. I don't know if I would be able to stomach such a storyline, and I know there must be women who have endured what I have or know someone that has and feel the same way. This is not a jab at the actor who plays EJ, I was sad to see him killed off on AMC and estatic to see him on DOOL...but the whole idea of a victim falling in love with the person who violates her like that, even if it is just soaps, is a sickening thought. (I am one of the few that have never accepted Luke and Laura as the most famous couple on soaps, because of their storyline)

Again, Ali what are your thoughts on this?

Alison is sounds like you have been really busy with everything you have going on. I so remember being younger and having 2 jobs and still hanging out. Now I just wonder how I ever did it all and not get much sleep at all.

LOL about sneaking in DVDs of Days for them. You would so be my favorite person if I was one of the contestants. I hate missing Days and even more so now with the Santo/Colleen and the Brady/DiMera fued stuff going on. Plus I hate missing any EJami scenes.

Have fun on your week off and the butterfly exhibit with Ben. Hey even after you don't have to do the accent for Days, you can still do it for Ben LOL. I know my son loved it when I would add accents to stuff we were reading together.

alison i love you. sami is truly my favorite on days. i used to pick on people for watching soap operas. then i met sami brady. i fell in love with the character. she is so down to earth (a little nutty at times). sami is the reason i became addicted to days. i look forward to her every day. imagine my surprise when colleen ended up looking just like her and santo ended up looking just like ej!!!! sami dont belong with ej. she belongs with lucas. and i know deep down when nick does the real test, those babies will be lucas'. alison....i love the character you play. i can relate to her in almost every aspect. it makes me happy to be able to take an hour out of my day to see the adventures that come about. makes me forget about the problems in my own life. it also helps me deal with my problems to see how sami's pan out. thanks so much. love you!!!!

Ali, I really enjoy watching Days. No one in my family understands why, but the drama gives me a break from reality just for a little bit. I enjoy that Sami is having twins and I know it is a show but I really want Lucas to end up being the father just because Sami and Lucas are soul mates.

Ali, I can't tell you how much I enjoy watching you perform on Days. Sami is one of my most favorite soap characters, and you make her so believable.

I am probably the only person who will tell you to your face (so to speak) that Sami and EJ belong together. I love defiant, scheming Sami, and while I appreciate her maturity, Days has too many goody goody characters (Hope, Marlena, Kayla, etc). Sami can handle EJ and take care of herself. Lucas doesn't give her enough credit. While I have been a forever Lumi fan, with the introduction of EJ, I have changed my mind.
Congrats on both jobs and I appreciate all of the work that you have done to provide me with such entertainment over the past 15 years!

I really love this storyline and how you, James, and Bryan play your characters. James is great at making him loving one minute and hateful the next toward Sami. You and Bryan characters are really sweet and caring even when they are fighting:) I must admit I do like E.J. and Sami better than Sami and Lucas. I feel that you can play with this more. Finally someone is after her and not the other way around.

I do have a question??? James is a very nice looking man and I love that fact that he is tall. That being said what is the heel height that you have to wear when doing a scene with him? I'm 5'1 and on a good day 5'1 1/2 LOL I would have to wear platforms shoes and stands on blocks. Then again it won't be bad if I had to look at eye candy all day ha ha :)

BTW, I really like that fact that you talk about yourself without being like Kathy Lee Gifford...no offense to her. From what I'm reading you seem down to earth and you enjoy what you are doing. That is another reason I love the show it's because everyone seems like they really like one another and enjoy going to work. It shows on screen. I would just love to see the bloopers real.

I think you did a great job with the accent. How funny that your Ben gets to have the bed time stories with the Irish accent! Hey, Ali! I'm just going to put this out there and hope you will make a plea to the writers at Days: PLEASE LET SAMI AND EJ BE TOGETHER! They are wonderful! I have been a devoted fan for several years, and I have never been as excited about a couple as I am about Sami and EJ. I know that rape is a horrible, disgusting crime, but his storyline really shows viewers that people can indeed experience life changes that transform who they are. I see this happening with EJ. It's even better to see Sami, the victim, struggling with the desire to forgive someone who hurt her so much. I think in the end, Sami and EJ could be a dynamic, can't-miss couple.

I was trying to see how I could sign up for the Biggest loser My mom is in love with the show but thats just it she just watches the show and does nothing about it but I guess I cant blame her all the way I do the same thing. I just wanted to drop by and say that I am soooooooo glad I came across the Days website and your blog page. I have always love your protrayal of thd=e Sami character and altho Sami has been a real *itch so much of the time, I really do cheer for her to do the big "Turn Around", even if it is only for a short time and I beleive that you would be the only person to play Sami as a good person, also. In fact...I cannot even envision any other actress playing your part ever!!

I am glad to see Stephno and Tony back and recking havoc as usual. It is really great to see the story lines becoming more active and eventful!!!

Colleen is red headed! If you look at her face you can tell that she does not have her fleckles covered up.I can not make up my mind if i want the twins to be E.J.'S or not.They play a good part together. Was not happy with Stephno and Tony coming back ,but maybe it will make a differences in the show. As long as it is good.

I have been watching DAYS since the Doug/Julie/Addie triangle and I can't remember a time when 2 actors had such amazing chemistry like you and James do. I think every girl in the country wishes they were Sami Brady, lol. James is absolutely gorgeous and such a talented actor, if DAYS decides to pair the two of you up, our TV sets will be on FIRE!!! Hey Ali. I am a year older than you but have been following Days with my mom since I was five coming home from kindergarten. We all love to hate Sami when she's a villian and love her when she's not but I think all fans love Ali always. I am a big loser fan too and can't wait to see more. Are Bob and Kim back? Lucky you if so. That Bob is buff. You're son Ben is cute and your irish accent is just fine as per your blog. Congrats to you ofr holding two roles and 2 shows and being a great mom of a toddler in the meantime. I have a 9 year old but how do you do it???????????

I, too, have been a Days fan since a young girl when my mom would watch (Doug/Julie/David/Marie/Marlena/Don, etc). My daughter, 18, has been hooked for years! We now either watch from our DVR or catch up online whatever we've missed--not missing the VCR either :) I have really enjoyed watching how your character has matured and have loved seeing the Sami/Lucas storyline survive a wedding, honeymoon, and now the DiMeras! Lovin' the Irish accent, by the way! I'm impressed! Kudos to the entire cast and crew---LOVIN' DAYS RIGHT NOW!!!

Loved the Green Wedding and the video on your blog. Sorry I am a little behind in reading the blog. My first thought about your likeness (Sami's) to your great aunt was, why your Grandpa Shawn never told you either lol. Love your acting on Days with the dual roles; I am going to hate when it ends. It was great seeing Grandma Horton and having the DiMera's back too. My hubby and I watch Days on SoapNet at night and catch up Sunday nights as that is when they replay the week. Hubby is a security guard with goofy hours so we know how getting sleep can be fun too. Good luck with both your jobs too. Take care and give Ben a big kiss from me in Ohio.

I think you are an awesome person. I can't imagine being able to have the work load that you do. I am really enjoying your characters on Days right now! I have not watched the show "The Biggest Loser" as of yet, but plan to give it a viewing. I too am struggling to lower my weight and get back into shape, so this might inspire me! lol Way to go!
