Emilie Melonas graduated from Memphis State University with a degree in theatre. She has been playing old ladies since she was 23, starting with Parthy in "Showboat" at Front Street Theatre in Memphis. She and her husband, Dennis, started The Backstage Theatre in Charleston, South Carolina where she played such roles as Big Mama in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," and Amanda in "The Glass Menagerie." Later, a move to Los Angeles gave her a chance to do numerous commercials, leaving her time to get involved with her real passion: pet rescue. Her involvement with Lifeline for Pets led to her day job as a baker at Takes the Cake in Pasadena, and a referral by a fellow rescuer led to her job on "Betty White's Off Their Rockers." Melonas is happy to be playing a real old lady and especially to be working with Betty White, whom she has admired for years both as an actress and a voice for animal welfare.
