Patient's treatment met with an abrupt end today after a disturbing series of events brought on by complete mental break.
Late in the afternoon, patient arrived at the door of my home with a gun in hand and a bullet lodged in his abdomen. Weak from loss of blood, fever and shock, he demanded what little treatment I could provide and refused to go to the hospital, despite my fear that sepsis was about to set in. Patient was barely coherent and clearly lost within the details of his so-called "dual" existence. He claimed to have been shot and abducted by Detective Hawkins, and was only able to escape after causing a car accident. Insisting that Hawkins killed his son to cover up a heroin ring in the police department, patient insisted I accompany him to a storage unit to acquire proof of said ring. Despite the fact that patient was delusional, I could hardly refuse, considering that he was armed and completely unpredictable. When we found the storage unit empty, patient locked me inside.
Thanks to a caring and dedicated partner, patient was eventually brought in and will likely be hospitalized for several weeks before being remanded to custody pending trial. Without a court order to the contrary, treatment will terminate immediately, and all case files will be remanded to the court by order of subpoena.
