    Squonk Opera

    Squonk Opera is a visionary ensemble of musicians and artists who create post-industrial performances using staging, design and original music. The group created their first show in 1995 in a Pittsburgh junkyard, combining cranes, roaring earthmovers and screaming machine shears in a choreography of mechanized movement. Recognized as an instant hit, they have been touring nationally and internationally ever since. Squonk Opera presents an art that includes both the cheap thrills of a monster truck show and the fragile, delicate beauty of high art.

    Back in the 'Burgh!

    We're back in Pittsburgh now, preparing our big outdoor show for touring!  The show has a 32-foot radio telescope screen and we perform on 3 levels of scaffolding, scissor lifts and cranes.  If you saw us on AGT, you know we like to Squonk up in the air!  The moon that Autumn was singing from on AGT is a part of the show, and so is the spinning earth that the Squonk boys played atop.  We hope to see some of our new fans out on the road!
