    Dani Shay

    Dani Shay is a singer-songwriter who was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. As a child, she expressed herself mainly through writing and drawing, until, at the age of eight, she discovered her singing voice. In the fourth grade, for an elementary school talent show, she performed her first solo for a live audience, singing the national anthem a cappella. Then, throughout middle and high school, Dani became highly involved in theatre, and after years of performing in musicals, dramas and improvised comedy acts, she was actually convinced that acting would be her primary creative path.

    When she was 16, however, she received a life-changing birthday gift: her first guitar. Dani taught herself to play, and then started to blend elements of folk, pop, rap, soul and even comedy into her music. Her goal is to honestly reveal herself to the public, in hopes that her bravery will inspire others to face their fears, love themselves and live boldly.

    I realize now that while I was on "America's Got Talent", I acted mostly out of fear and resistance (without even knowing it).  I was afraid of being considered a "sell out", so I resisted doing popular songs on the show.  My mind was tricking me, hiding my fears of judgement under...
