Benjamin Stockham stars as Marcus, the oddly charming 11-year-old son of Fiona (Minnie Driver), who moves in next door to Will (David Walton) and manages to completely disrupt his perfect world, in NBC's comedy "About a Boy."
Born in La Mesa, California, and raised in Santee, Stockham's foray into the acting world brought him success early on. From his very first audition for the horror film "Quarantine," he booked a small but memorable role and impressed the director with his drive and desire to work. Following a successful film debut, he booked a national commercial for the investment firm Fidelity, which still airs today.
Stockham's big break came at age 9 when he landed the role of Robby Gunderson, opposite Frank Dolce and Matthew Levy, on Fox's "Sons of Tucson." He also made his mark on the small screen in NBC's "1600 Penn," opposite Bill Pullman, Jenna Elfman and Josh Gad, as Xander Gilchrist, the intelligent yet mischievous youngest child in a First Family struggling to strike a balance between its complicated dynamics and leading the free world. He has also had memorable guest appearances on popular television shows including "CSI: New York," "Criminal Minds," "Rizzoli and Isles," and most recently "Once Upon a Time."
Stockham is no stranger to the big screen. His most recent role was in "Decoding Annie Parker" with Helen Hunt and Aaron Paul, playing Young William, a boy who is forced to watch his mother's battle with cancer lead to the demise of his parents' marriage. His voice will next be heard as Henry in the animated film "B.O.O: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations," alongside Seth Rogen, Melissa McCarthy, Octavia Spencer, Rashida Jones, Matt Bomer and Bill Murray. Stockham also recently wrapped the indie film "Lost & Found," where he starred as Mark, who, along with his older brother, is sent on vacation to a mysterious island with their estranged uncle. Both films are slated for a 2015 release.
In his spare time, Stockham enjoys drawing and has become quite the artist. He also likes to ride his scooter and has an affinity for video games.
