A native of Buffalo, New York, Laurie McCarthy has lived in Boston, Martha’s Vineyard, Alaska and New York City, working in everything from the fishing industry to hi-tech companies before settling in Los Angeles and hunkering down to write scripts. Along the way, McCarthy notes, she bought several losing lottery tickets.
McCarthy’s creative experience within primetime hour drama is equally diverse, with credits such as “Felicity,” where she served as an executive producer in its final season, and “CSI: Miami,” for which she was a co-executive producer in its first season. Along the way, there were vampires (the short-lived cult film “Kindred: the Embraced”), famous friends with an infamous zip code (“Beverly Hills, 90210”), FBI agents (“The Handler”) and an entire undercover family (Shaun Cassidy’s “Cover Me”).
McCarthy, a graduate of Boston University, also attended the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. She lives with her son in the Hollywood Hills.
