Will's Guide to Creating the Perfect TV Dinner

So you're hosting a TV party? Well good for you. It's America's national past time, after all, and you've come to the right place for help on all your culinary needs. If I don't mind my saying, I have quite the touch in the kitchen, so just put yourself in my hands. well, you know what I mean.

In the dark ages of TV, back when things were still in black and white and hi-def was just a gleam in a young nerd's eye, TV and food meant frozen dinners in cardboard trays with little compartments that never quite kept each item from touching the other. I mean, who wants their franks touching their beans, you know?

For your modern party, try my twist on that musty, old favorite. You can thank me for it later.

You'll Need-

  • Dinner trays with four compartments: these can be hard to find, but they're out there. You'll need to buy one for each guest.
  • Wasabi mashed potatoes
  • Julienne carrots with a ginger and brown sugar glaze
  • Pan-fried tilapia with chili lime butter
  • For dessert, miniature chocolate flan fits perfectly in the small dessert compartment

Carefully prepare all four items and place in the appropriate tray compartments for each of your guests. Serve with a crusty, herb bread accompanied by a good quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For an extra touch, transfer the oil and vinegar into separate, washed out wine bottles and top with bottle pourers.

Before bringing out your TV dinners, you should have plenty of appetizers and wine on hand. Here are some of my favorite munchies that I'm sure you and your friends will love:

  • Pickled shrimp
  • Crab and basil-stuffed mushrooms
  • Date-stuffed cucumbers
  • Pine nut with yogurt-feta dip to serve with a tray of fresh vegetables
