In NBC's "The Black Donnellys," Kirk Acevedo stars as Nicky Cottero, a dapper and powerfully built mobster on the verge of running things for the Italian-Americans, who secretly hopes to take over the Irish-American neighborhoods as well. A conscience-free and mercurial killer, Nicky makes people uncomfortable with his rabid ambition. His hatred for Tommy Donnelly drives him to confrontations that are dangerous and threatening, especially for the brothers.
Acevedo, a native of the Bronx in New York, was recently seen starring opposite Mark Wahlberg in Disney's football feature film, "Invincible." In addition, Acevedo starred in such films as "The New World," "Dinner Rush," "The Thin Red Line" (for which he was feted with an ALMA award), "Bait," "Boiler Room" and "5up 2down."
Acevedo recently finished a two-episode arc on "24" and is well known for his performance as Staff Sgt. Joseph Toye on the HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers." Acevedo's television credits also include his CableACE-nominated role as Miguel Alvarez in the HBO series "Oz," as well as "Law & Order: Trial by Jury," "Third Watch" and "NYPD Blue." Acevedo was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for his performance in Sam Shepard's play "Tooth of Crime."
