Biography
As a medical doctor, Jennifer knows better than anyone the dangers of obesity. She has struggled with her weight all her life, but things spiraled out of control as she went through a difficult divorce and relied on food to get her through the stress and sadness. Dedicated to her career, Jennifer wants to use her own personal experience to focus her medical practice on obesity prevention and treatment. She knows that obesity is now the second-leading cause of preventable death in the United States, and she wants to devote her efforts to changing this statistic. Jennifer hopes that by reaching her goal weight on her own, she will show America that it IS possible to transform your life without risky gastric bypass surgery or weight-loss pills.

Goal weight: 145
 
Why the weight gain: I’ve always struggled with my weight, but I really ballooned as I used food to escape the stress and sadness of my divorce.
 
Biggest hope: I am hoping that by reaching my goal weight on my own (without pre-planned meals and personal trainers), I will show America that it IS possible to transform your life without risky gastric bypass surgery or weight-loss pills. Obesity is now the second-leading cause of preventable death in the United States, and I look forward to using my own personal experience with weight loss to help focus my career on obesity prevention/treatment and turn that statistic around.
 
Motivation/reason for wanting to lose the weight: To get that fire back in my life, and maybe even find the man of my dreams.
 
Hardest thing about being overweight: Feeling so self-conscious when meeting someone new (or worse, when running into someone who knew you at a thinner time!). I always felt that I was being judged by my size.

Dream physical activity: To run a 10k in under an hour.
 
Best physical feature: My lips. You’d be amazed at how far a good pout can get you.
 
Mantra: To inspire America!
 
Hardest part about losing the weight at home: Trying to stay 100% motivated without being able to see what the competition is doing!
 
Most valuable thing you learned at the ranch: That having a sugar- and whey protein-containing shake immediately after workouts is helpful to help replenish glycogen stores and build muscle tissue. And, on a more philosophical note, that ANYONE can succeed at this, as long as you dedicate yourself to it – the 50 states representatives are from all walks of life, and we will ALL succeed. You just watch.
