Ok. I think this was a compliment....but the wording could have used some work....
Did a show/benefit for an anti-violence project last night when a lovely young man came up to me and said....
"Wait. Can I ask you something? And I really don't want to insult you, so don't take this the wrong way. And I hope I'm not completely off base...."
"Go ahead" I started to dread what was coming...
"Um...are you...or were you the girl...who used to work Upstairs at the Duplex? Because you look vaguely like her..but again, no offense if I'm totally wrong.."
"Yup! That was me!"
"WAS. Because I barely recognize you."
I think it's hilarious that he was worried that he'd insult me by comparing me to the fat version of myself!

I still have so much to lose before I get to the slim category, and sometimes I feel so far behind everyone else who are running marathons and wearing bikinis and getting boyfriends that I want to weep and give up. But I will NEVER give up.
There is a quote that I came up with in college, and I have tried to live my life by it. "Determination is what makes the average man great."
