Biography
Mark is an outgoing motorcycle cop who was a lean 190 lbs when he joined the force. After being hit by a car while on duty and going through a lengthy recovery, Mark gained 65 pounds. Mark is soon to be married and is determined to get in shape and start a new life with his fiancé, and to live to see his future children grow up. Mark wants to get back the physique that allowed him to do all the things he loves, like hiking and exploring the natural beauty of Montana. He wants his success to inspire others to go for their dreams too, even if they seem impossible.
Goal weight: 185
Why the weight gain: I just did not have a starting point for a healthy lifestyle combining exercise and nutrition. That with sitting around for six months after a work-related motorcycle verses car accident, I gained 65 pounds.
Biggest hope: (A) My biggest hope is that I can inspire others to do what they think is the impossible with their weight and mental issues. (B) This will change my life for the better because I get to be a small part of something big that I hope will change the attitudes and lifestyles of obese people across the United States and abroad.
Motivation/reason for wanting to lose the weight: I want to live to see my future children grow-up. There are too many things I have yet to accomplish in my life.
Hardest thing about being overweight: Is knowing that I could change my attitude but with justifiable excuses I chose not to.
Dream physical activity: To run in a marathon
Best physical feature: I am told it is my "Bumm"
Mantra: Where there is will there is always a way. If you give-up you will always wonder forever what could have been that you should had done today.
Hardest part about losing the weight at home: Staying focused on the reality that this is for life, so I have to set myself short- termed goals to keep my motivation in check.
Most valuable thing you learned at the ranch: Obese people are not alone in their situations and that the Biggest Loser Staff taught me to realize that people really do care about our lives and will help you change. All you have to do is ask!!!
