In today's business environment, many people find themselves struggling to get by - perhaps you are one of them. Most businesses watch out for the bottom line, and sometimes actions that seem drastic or unfair are necessary to remain in business. No business = no jobs. Some business = some jobs. It's just a fact of the business world. There are extremes, of course, and perhaps you are in one of those situations. You should, as always, watch out for yourself and your best interests. If you think you're with an organization that is not fair, or is unscrupulous, look elsewhere. Also, it's a good thing to try putting yourself in your employer's shoes. Maybe that will give you insight into some of the procedures you describe. Maybe they are trying to save the business, and your job. Then again, maybe not. But be fair in your assessment by trying to see it from both sides first.
