Biography:
For his monologue, Steve sang a ditty detailing how surprised he was by his own success.
Steve Carell wasn’t cut out to be a mail carrier, so he went into showbiz instead. His professional career began on the stage of Chicago’s “Second City” theater in 1991. In the mid ’90s, he had limited exposure in a couple of sitcoms that never went anywhere, but in 1999, he landed a spot on cable’s “The Daily Show.” His turn as a faux TV reporter earned him a cult following that blossomed with his appearances in the films “Bruce Almighty” and “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.”
These appearances led to his being cast in the U.S. version of the popular British sitcom “The Office,” which gained him even more fans and accolades as a skilled and subtle comic actor. His star-making turn in the film “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” solidified his standing in the Hollywood A-list.
