Yes, it's true. Quirky artist Andy Warhol made a single cameo appearance in a short film called, "Andy Warhol's TV" that consisted of three one-minute segments. In 1972, "Andy Warhol's TV" became an actual TV show in the early days of cable television.

This episode is also notable for a special appearance by John Belushi, who agreed to do a cameo when his favorite band Fear was booked as the musical guest.

Fear's performance that night has since become something of an SNL legend. Apparently, their dancers and fans created such a ruckus that punk bands were banned from the show from that night on.
