Victoria Jackson might be one of the most unlikely cast members to ever be part of the SNL crew. For a show known for pushing comedic boundaries, Jackson has a rather unusual background.
She was born in Miami, Florida in 1959 and raised in a deeply religious family. In high school, she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen and later attended Florida Bible College. While acting in Summer Stock Theater after her college years, she met the actor Johnny Crawford (from TV's "The Rifleman") who put her in his Hollywood nightclub act.
While in Hollywood, she started working the standup circuit, finally getting her break when Johnny Carson gave her a shot on the "Tonight Show," where she recited poetry while standing on her hands. Twenty "Tonight Show" appearances followed, leading to six seasons on SNL.
In 1991, she returned home to Florida and married her high school sweetheart. Today, she occasionally makes film and TV appearances, most notably on "The 700 Club" where she shares her faith with an audience of millions. She is also a writer and has released two CDs of ukulele music for children.
