Comedienne Sarah Silverman got her big break in 1993 when she was hired by SNL as a writer and performer, but she had already been a professional comic for some time. Silverman was born in 1970 in New Hampshire and was doing standup by 17. While attending NYU, she continued to hone her craft in clubs around New York City. She was hired by SNL at 22 and remained there for a year before returning to the comedy club circuit and occasional parts on television ("Seinfeld," "The Larry Sanders Show"). Her "blue" humor and cynical take on life have helped her develop a loyal following, not to mention her stints on HBO's "Mr. Show with Bob and David," "Greg the Bunny," and other cult favorites.
