The multi-talented Paul Schaffer's bio includes a lot more than being Dave Letterman’s bandleader and sidekick for over 20 years. A Toronto native, Schaffer began his career as the musical director for the legendary 1972 Toronto production of “Godspell,” which featured performances by John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Martin Short, and Eugene Levy. He then moved on to SNL where he served as musical director between 1975 and 1980. He has also appeared many times on the SNL stage as well as in a variety of films (most memorably as Artie Fufkin in "This is Spinal Tap"). As a musician, he has released two solo albums and is the co-writer of the hit song "It’s Raining Men."
