Funnyman Kevin Nealon is one of the longest-running SNL cast members - an impressive nine seasons. Born in 1953, Nealon hails from the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut where he got his first taste of performing as a local garage band musician. After receiving a degree in marketing from Sacred Heart University, he made the journey to Los Angeles where he began slugging it out on the standup circuit.
A 1984 appearance on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" helped push him into the mainstream, and when his friend Dana Carvey was hired by SNL, Carvey suggested to show producers that Nealon come along for the ride.
Nealon began on SNL as a featured player and was hired full time for the 1987-88 season. Although best remembered as the host of Weekend Update, Nealon also created a number of memorable SNL characters, including the Subliminal Man, Mr. No Depth Perception, and Hanz (from the muscle-bound team of Hanz and Franz). He has also appeared in a number of Adam Sandler films and TV specials. Today, he continues to perform around the country and can be currently seen on the cable show "Weeds."
