Colin Quinn was born in 1959 and raised in Brooklyn. He started his career as a standup comic in 1985, fast becoming known for his blue-collar humor and cynical political commentary. In 1987, he began a three-year stint as the co-host of MTV's game show "Remote Control." For the next several years he continued his career as a standup, TV personality, and occasional film actor.
In 1995, SNL hired Quinn as a writer and featured player. Two seasons later he became a full-time cast member, showing up on Weekend Update as "Lenny the Lion" and "Joe Blow." For the 1998 season, he took over the Weekend Update anchor desk from Norm MacDonald. Quinn remained with the cast for a total of five seasons before leaving to start his own ill-fated sketch show. He found success on TV once again with "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn," which aired for two seasons on Comedy Central.
The Irish-American Quinn still performs regularly and is widely regarded as being one of the best comics in the business.
