Charles Rocket (aka Charles Claverie, aka Charles Hamburger, aka Charles Kennedy, aka Charlie Rockett) began his career as a newscaster for KOAA-TV, a NBC affiliate in Pueblo, CO and as the host of KOAA's "Super Show," which aired serials and movies from the 1950s.

When SNL decided to recast for the 1980 season, the 31-year-old Rocket sent the show's new producer Jean Doumanian a tape of one of his newscasts and he was hired to become a cast member and the new Weekend Update anchor. Rocket's shot at SNL fame was cut short when he uttered the "F" word live on the air. Though he was released from the show, he went on to have a highly successful career as a movie and TV actor.

Rocket has appeared in TV shows like "Touched By an Angel" and NBC's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and in movies like "Dances With Wolves" and "Dumb and Dumber." He was also heard as the voice of "Nym" in the Star Wars "Starfighter" videogame series.

Sadly, Rocket took his own life in October of 2005. He was 56 and survived by his wife and son.
