Holy heartthrobs! Galen Gering (Luis) is back on “Passions” after a seven-month break. For his fans, it seemed more like an eternity! To celebrate his return, we gave Passions Fan Club members the chance to send in their most pressing questions for Harmony’s top cop. We selected a handful of those questions and had Galen write back his responses. Take a look at what he had to say!
Hi, my question for Galen is what have you been doing on your break from the show?!
Jubin
New York City, New York
Well, Jubin, I’ve been doing lots of things. I was mostly focused on a couple house construction projects that I have going. Both are older Spanish homes that require a lot of attention to detail and therefore have been rather time consuming. Also, I have a website business called Reelaccess.com and I devoted more time to that. Additionally, I did a short film. And last, but not least I got my wife pregnant.
My question for Galen is: You were gone a LONG time, and while it had to be great being off, there must have been things that you missed while working. Whether it be seeing your cast mates every day, or being able to do your craft (which, btw – LOVE watching you do your thing on the screen!), or maybe it was something that you never would have expected to miss – care to share?
Tracy
Waterford, Wisconsin
Dear Tracy,
Certainly there were things I missed while being off work. While at work I tend to laugh a lot. I’m not exactly sure why that is. I guess because there are so many things happening on set that are just funny. There are incredible personalities, pressure to perform, funny random dialogue, the ways in which we do the scenes. Not to mention acting is usually a lot of fun and incredibly challenging. Outside of that I certainly didn’t miss memorizing all those lines.
Galen, have you missed working with your on-screen soul mate, Sheridan Crane?
Kelli Sayers
Bel Air, Maryland
Dear Kelli,
Without a doubt I’d have to say yes. I’ve been blessed to have such a cool and intelligent co-star. I mean, seriously, she laughs at all my stupid jokes. What more could I ask for?!
Hi Galen! I wanted to know, will Luis and Sheridan get back together? If so, how will he win back Sheridan's love now that she's involved with Chris? Love, your biggest fan,
Dara
Brooklyn, NY
Dear Dara,
I’d have to say yes Luis and Sheridan will at some point get back together, for how long is another question which I don’t have the answer to. They’ve been through more than their fair share of obstacles, but somehow till now have always managed to overcome them. I’d expect that Luis will have to do something incredible to get Sheridan back, but somehow that wouldn’t surprise me.
How has (impending) fatherhood changed you?
Lauralee Bazzard
Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies
Dear Lauralee,
I don’t know that impending fatherhood has changed me. It’s caused me to think about and address certain things like, how do I want to raise my son? What are things my parents did that I liked/disliked? What morals, values, and beliefs do I want to instill in him? Questions like those have been on my mind much more. Also, my wife’s one wish is that her son grows up with a father, so I’ve been a little less reckless lately. Just a little…
First off... HUGE welcome back! You were definitely missed! Also, congrats on the new addition to the family!!! I know you enjoy fixing up houses in your spare time. Did you happen to have time on your break to fix up the baby room – and is there a certain theme you and (wife) Jenna are going for?
Kim Gustafson
Meridianville, Alabama
Dear Kim,
Thanks for the huge welcome back. I love that. So far we haven’t done the baby room. We figured we’d focus on getting the kitchen done and a roof that doesn’t leak first. I’m sure the baby room isn’t long off however. Both Jenn and I are strong believers in Montessori education which has a lot to do with how the room is set up. In short, a lot of the furniture i.e. desk, bed, dressers, table, etc. are designed with the child in mind. The room is basically set up for them as opposed to the adults. At some point I’m sure there will be a picture of the room posted.
First I just want to say how happy I am that we will be seeing you back on-screen soon! My question is which type of scene is harder to perform: a love scene or a sad, dramatic death scene? I have heard that both were difficult; which is easier for you?
Ashley Snedker
Batesville, Arkansas
Dear Ashley,
I would agree with you that both can be difficult. I will say this however; I find the problem not in doing one dramatic scene, but seven in a row. It’s extremely hard to stay at a certain emotional level for sustained periods of time. It requires a very high level of concentration and energy. In fact, whenever I have emotional scenes I find I’m exhausted at the end of the day. The romantic scenes on the other hand can just be strange. Remember you’re performing them in front of let’s say 60 people. Nuff said.
Who is your favorite person to work with on Passions?
Erica Garcia
Blythe, California
Dear Erica,
I can’t say there’s any one favorite person without getting into trouble. I will say this however; it’s fun to work with lots of different people. It keeps you on your toes because you have to be cognizant of your relationship with lots of individuals.
If you could portray any Passions character, who would it be?
Carly S.
The earlier Julian Crane. He made it look so good to be so bad.
