Mom Interviews:
Melody Epperson
What is a fun fact about your child and husband that wasn't revealed on the show?
I call the two of them LGM (Little Green Men) from Toy Story because they are of one mind. We even have trouble telling their baby pictures apart!
Were you more nervous for your child or your husband while watching the show and why?
Truthfully, I wasn't nervous for either of them. I was just nervous they wouldn't win (did I mention the whole family is really competitive?)
Any interest in participating if the show was called My Mom is Better Than Your Mom?
Are you Kidding? I'm living for that day!! We could have real "mom" challenges where we have two minutes to make the kid's lunch, find their lost homework, get their shoes on, teeth brushed, hair combed, all while talking on the phone, the dog under our feet and their baby sister screaming in the background.... now that's a challenge!
What was the most surprising moment of the show for you?
After our part of the show was over my son who is VERY competitive got upset because they didn't do as well as he hoped. Here we just won a good chunk of money, and the audience members who had been sitting there all day for nothing were trying to console my son telling him it was okay and he had done a great job, etc. I will never forget the kindness of those strangers.
What do you think was tougher for your husband to do: participate in the challenges or answer the questions?
The challenges. I knew he would do well with the trivia. He has a lot of normally useless facts that he keeps in his head. This is great if you're playing trivial pursuit.... not so great when he forgets to pick up the dry cleaning.
How would you have done during the final quiz?
Honestly? 100%. Afterwards Dan told us what our final two questions would have been. Brian and I both knew the answers.... ahhh what could have been! Every time we see that Harry Potter book now we just call it the $30,000 book.
Who do you think posed as the toughest competition and why?
The Leon family. They never gave up. Mr. Leon put everything he had into every challenge. Especially after he did the final challenge so quickly, I didn't think Brian would be able to beat his time.
