Pick Your Poison

Top

Objective—simply making your makeup message loud and clear!

If it’s your lips that you’re most fond, or your eyes that really define your face. Selecting a focal point will make your look sizzle. For deeply red lips, keep blush soft and neutral with medium to light color on eyes. If you choose a smoldering eye, bright blush is delightful when paired with a soft or sheer lip color.

Work Your Cheekbones!

Top

Objective—Use your cheekbone to draw attention to your eyes!

3-step program

Depth—use bronzer, cream or powder. Address your bone structure. Round shapes use shading around hairline and under cheekbone in a pie-shape to carve into the roundness. For angular shapes use shading at hairline by temples and back portion of the cheekbone. Use sparingly!!! This is part of the structure—not the paint on the building!!

Blushing color—cream or powder, shimmer or flat. Sweep this color to the top of bone adding freshness and shape to the depth. For angular cheeks try a straight blended shape making the face seem wider near the eyes. For more round faces try a slight angle sweeping into a triangle shape on apples.

Highlight—use a shimmer shadow in ivory or VERY sheer white. Apply with finger to ‘dew points’. Note: this final step is most successful when completed after eye-makeup. Tap shimmer to the outside corner of the eye, right next to the eye. Can apply some to the inner corners for deep-set eyes. This step will complete the shaping and lead your audience directly to your eyes!

Lashing Out

Top

If you use strip lashes measure them to your eye and cut them with manicure scissors. Bend and curl strip to loosen before applying glue. Wait a minute after applying glue before laying into place, this allows it to set and adhere immediately. No sloshing around the eye waiting for glue to dry will protect your perfectly applied eye makeup!

Powder It Down

Top

OK, everyone knows to do it, but there is a proper way to do it! If you are using compact or loose, swirl brush in powder. Take the brush and place in the palm of your hand; give it a few circular turns. This will distribute the powder evenly in the brush. Aim for a light even dusting of powder on the face. Too much powder applied will actually pull more oil from your pores to hydrate skin.
