Eric Bogosian joins the cast of “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” Dick Wolf’s third installment of the “Law & Order” brand, the second-longest running drama series in the history of television. Bogosian will play Captain Danny Ross, who recently headed a successful three-year Joint Task Force on International Money Laundering and was subsequently promoted to the Major Case Squad. He brings Detective Wheeler (Julianne Nicholson) with him from the Joint Task Force and partners her with Detective Logan (Chris Noth).
“Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” which enters its sixth season in September 2006, takes viewers into the minds of its criminals while following the psychological approaches the Major Case Squad uses to solve the crimes. The Major Case Squad follows two sets of partners – Detectives Robert Goren (Vincent D’Onofrio) and Alexandra Eames (Kathryn Erbe) and Detectives Mike Logan (Chris Noth) and Megan Wheeler (Julianne Nicholson). The two Major Case Squad detective teams will split the caseloads week to week.
Bogosian first came to prominence as a monologist, writing and starring in a critically acclaimed series of solos for which he won three Obies and a Drama Desk Award: “FunHouse” (also broadcast on PBS), “Drinking in America,” “Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll,” “Pounding Nails in the Floor with My Forehead” and “Wake Up and Smell the Coffee.” In addition to their New York runs, he has performed them extensively through the U.S. and abroad.
This fall, off-Broadway’s Second Stage Theater will present a new production of his play “Suburbia,” directed by Jo Bonney, and Tony Award winning actor Liev Schreiber will star in a new production of his first play, “Talk Radio,” in February. This new production, to be directed by Robert Falls, will mark Bogosian’s Broadway debut. As an actor on the New York stage, Bogosian received critical acclaim for his performance as Satan in “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot.”
He is the author of two novels, “Mall” and “Wasted Beauty,” and is currently at work on his third. Bogosian’s film credits include roles in the films “Heights,” “Wonderland,” “Igby Goes Down,” “Ararat,” “Gossip,” Woody Allen’s “Deconstructing Harry,” “ The Substance of Fire,” “ Under Siege II” and “Dolores Claiborne.”
His television credits include a recurring role on “Love Monkey” starring Tom Cavanaugh, as well as guest-starring roles on “Scrubs,” “Third Watch,” “Law & Order,” “The Larry Sanders Show,” “Crime Story,” “The Twilight Zone” and “Miami Vice.”
He has also co-starred in many films for television, including, “Shot in the Heart,” “Blonde,” “A Bright Shining Lie,” “Witch Hunt” and “The Caine Mutiny Court Martial.”
Eric Bogosian lives in New York with his wife, director Jo Bonney, and their two children.
