Emmy-nominated Annabella Sciorra joins the cast of “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” Dick Wolf’s third installment of the “Law & Order” brand, which is the second-longest running drama series in the history of television. Sciorra joins the cast as Detective Mike Logan’s (Chris Noth) partner, Detective Carolyn Barek.
“Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” which enters its fifth season in September 2005, takes viewers into the minds of its criminals while following the psychological approaches the Major Case Squad uses to solve the crimes. In addition to Detectives Logan and Barek, the Major Case Squad follows Detectives Goren (Vincent D’Onofrio) and Eames (Kathryn Erbe).
Sciorra received an Emmy nomination for her highly acclaimed performance in the role of Gloria Trillo on HBO’s “The Sopranos.”
Upcoming feature film credits include Sidney Lumet’s “Find Me Guilty” opposite Vin Diesel and Michael Cuesta’s “Twelve & Holding.” She has also starred in the recent television films “The Madam’s Family: The Truth About The Canal Street Brothel,” opposite Ellen Burstyn and “Identity Theft: The Michelle Brown Story.”
Sciorra made a profound impact with her roles in “Jungle Fever,” opposite Wesley Snipes, “The Hand That Rocks The Cradle,” and “Mr. Wonderful,” starring Matt Dillon.
She next starred in the Peter Medak film “Romeo is Bleeding,” opposite Gary Oldman and in Abel Ferrara’s “The Addiction.” She later re-teamed with Ferrara as both an actress and associate producer in his period piece “The Funeral,” with Christopher Walken.
Sciorra also received critical acclaim for her role in “Copland,” opposite Robert DeNiro and Sylvester Stallone, written and directed by James Mangold. She was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Actress for her film debut in “True Love.”
Additional film credits include “What Dreams May Come,” the Italian film “Domenica,” “Internal Affairs,” “Reversal of Fortune,” “The Hard Way,” “Once In The Life,” “Cadillac Man,” “Mr. Jealousy,” “Sam The Man,” “Whispers in the Dark,” “The Night We Never Met,” “King of the Jungle,” “The Cure” and “Chasing Liberty.”
While growing up in Connecticut and New York, Sciorra was trained in both classic dance and theater. Her stage work includes appearances at the Nuyorican Poets Café as well as performances at the Promenade Theatre in “Those The River Keeps,” and at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in “Under the Blue Sky.” Most recently she appeared Off-Broadway in “Roar” for The New Group.
