Michele Balan, Season Four

Fill us in on what you've been up to since your season of LCS ended?

It's been great. I have been booked pretty solidly and have many projects in the works!

How did LCS change your life?

It changed my life dramatically. I was working before the show, but it certainly put my name out there in the world so more people now know who I am. People recognize me and say, "we loved you on Last Comic Standing, but we thought you were taller!"

What's it like being on the road? Is being a professional comic all it's cracked up to be? No pun intended.

Being on the road certainly has it's ups and downs. Traveling is always tough, even if it's for the once-a-year vacation, so imagine every week. Every time you fly there are new rules with the airports. The worst is only being allowed to bring two bags. I am a woman: I need one bag for my hair products alone.

I do get to see the world, which is a great gift, but I also miss being home with all my own things and all my clothes, and of course, my dog. However, I am grateful to have these opportunities, so let me not complain!

Tell us a funny LCS story that fans never got to see happen on air?

Since we were living on the Queen Mary, and it is known as one of the top haunted places in America, the producers brought in a medium (maybe he was a small) to bring back the spirit of a dead girl. It was fun at first until we all ran out because we all couldn't breathe and thought the little girl was trying to kill us. That night most of us were so scared, we pretty much all slept in the same room!

Any parting words of advice to would-be comedians?

Let your comedy come from YOU and who you are. And then just wait 17 years for success! Good luck.
