A veteran producer, writer, actor and director of film, television and theater, Garry Marshall recently appeared in "Keeping Up with the Steins" and provided the voice of Chicken Little's frustrated father in "Chicken Little."

Marshall, a Bronx, New York native and a Northwestern University journalism graduate, was a writer on such seminal 1960s comedy series as "The Dick Van Dyke Show," "The Lucy Show," and "I Spy." He has also created and executive produced some of the longest-running and most celebrated sitcoms in American television history, including "Happy Days," "Laverne & Shirley," "The Odd Couple" and "Mork and Mindy."

Marshall has directed numerous films, including "The Princess Diaries" and "The Princess Diaries 2," "Raising Helen," "Pretty Woman," "Frankie & Johnny," "Beaches," "Overboard," "Nothing in Common," "The Flamingo Kid," "The Other Sister" and "Runaway Bride."

As an actor, his credits include "Monk," "Father of the Pride" and "The Simpsons," and he had a recurring role as the head of a fictional network on "Murphy Brown." He also appeared in "A League of Their Own," "Soapdish" and "Lost in America."

In 1995, Marshall wrote his autobiography, "Wake Me When It's Funny," with his daughter, Lori. In 1997, he built a 130-seat performing arts space, The Falcon Theatre, in Burbank, California. The theater features a variety of live performances and stage plays throughout the year, including a recent musical version of the hit television series "Happy Days."

Marshall recently directed his first opera, Offenbach's "Grand Duchess," produced by the Los Angeles Opera.
