INTERVIEW

Why will YOU be the Last Comic Standing?
Well, my posture is fantastic. So I've got the whole "standing" part iced. I've read "The Art of War" and "The War of Art," coincidentally, so I think I've got the strategy thing figured out. Plus, I'm pretty funny. Thank goodness my wife still thinks so.

Funny is...
The unexpected. And the expected, unexpectedly.

What comedians do you admire and why?
I admire all comics, and I mean, all comics who ever get up on stage. And the ones who make me laugh, and weep, and gasp at their genius are Richard Pryor, Woody Allen, Chris Rock, Jake Johannsen, Kevin Meany, Dave Attell, Maria Bamford, Andy Kindler, Jimmy Pardo, and John Evans. I love what those comics do, or have done.

Who do see as your biggest competition?
I see Gabriel Iglesias as the toughest competition. Gabriel is so funny, and so darned likable - he's like a human cartoon! He will be tough.

What's the worst job you've ever had?
Wow, where do I start? I'm kind of a salesman at heart, and I've had some weird sales jobs. Selling knives door-to-door was pretty difficult. Imagine the trust involved opening your door to a stranger who is carrying a case of murder weapons. And the sharpest murder weapons you can buy and never have to sharpen again. Wow, I've still got it.

I worked in a gas station for all of three weeks. It was a mutual understanding between me and my boss that I was probably the worst employee he ever had.

Here's a tip for everybody: Try not to become an extra in TV or movies. It's not as glamorous as you may think. Imagine cattle with about half the dignity.
