Louise, a fashion model from Leeds, England, competed against 5 other models in an all-new, all-female models Fear Factor. Although she failed the first stunt, cutting the total prize money in half, Louise wrestled an alligator and overall outperformed her competitors to win $25,000.
Do you think that models unfairly have the reputation for being soft and spoiled? How do you see yourself?
In general yes, I do think that models have an unfair reputation for being
soft and spoiled. Pretty people seem to be put into a category where they
are treated differently and there are always going to be those who get used
to being pampered and spoiled. Those people seem to make better headlines for being DIVAS. I see myself as a more independent person who doesn't need or want everything done for me. I enjoy getting my hands dirty and finishing a physical challenge.
Why did you want to go on Fear Factor?
I wanted to go on Fear Factor to put myself in a one-of-a-kind situation.
It looked like a lot of fun and a great way to win a chunk of money while
really mentally and physically challenging myself.
You got half way through the first underwater stunt but couldn't finish.
What happened?
My nerves got the better of me. I already knew how long I could hold my
breath and I had started to panic. I don't think my head was in 100% game
mode yet.
Were you surprised that only one player was able to complete the
underwater stunt?
I was surprised that only one person completed the first stunt but of
course I was very happy. Otherwise, I would never have been able to come back and compete.
After Teresa was the only player to complete the first stunt, did you
feel that she was unstoppable?
No, I definitely didn't think she was unstoppable. I always had her in the
top three but I believed she had had her best event come and go [early].
Were you surprised that both Tanya and Danushka quit the alligator
stunt?
No, I wasn't surprised that they quit. It took some time to get them to do
it. I don't understand how you could just stop like that.
You had the best time in the alligator stunt. What was your
strategy?
It was so cold that day that we were frozen before starting. So my strategy was to simply go as fast as I could and take my time on the tree climb. Keep
moving!
What was the hardest part of the alligator stunt, getting the keys or
pulling the alligator by its tail?
For me it was the keys. I didn't realize they were rusty and I couldn't
tell if the gate was open. I lost a lot of time and at that point my
adrenaline was running so high I would have wrestled the alligator!
Speaking of grabbing a 400-pound alligator by the tail, what was that
like? Pretty cool, you could hear him hissing at you and trying to grab on. I
kept telling him, "You're coming with me."
What was going through your mind during the final stunt as you
dangled above the water?
"Hold on and grab 3 flags, that's all you have to do." When I grabbed the third
flag I was so proud of myself . I have never wanted to go in a helicopter,
never mind climbing out and hanging from one....it was a BLAST!
So, how does a model spend an extra $25,000?
On a house.
