Fear Factor contestant John Knight explains what it was like to hang upside down over a tank of millipedes, Madagascar hissing cockroaches and nightcrawlers while using only his mouth to grab and transfer them as quickly as possible.
FEAR FACTOR: What did the tank of millipedes, roaches and worms smell like?
JOHN KNIGHT: When I stuck my head in the box, the smell was almost unbearable, all the mixture of worm crap, bug crap, millipede crap, whatever it was, was just horrible. And the taste the millipedes gave off was this awful, spicy flavor. It was like the nastiest Cajun food you could ever eat.
FEAR FACTOR: Did having to do the stunt hanging upside down make it worse?
JOHN KNIGHT: The hanging upside down, that was horrible. I could feel my whole face getting red. I couldn't breathe that well. And just hanging upside down, I do not like. Plus having to bend my neck to go into the tank, and using my shoulders like that, my shoulders were worn out. I had never done an upside down pushup. And having to do those for a minute and a half was just killer on my shoulders.
FEAR FACTOR: How did this stunt compare to the most disgusting thing you've ever eaten?
JOHN KNIGHT: The worst thing that I've eaten that I could compare to it, would be bull manure. There have been times where I've got thrown in a rodeo and there'll be a pile right there where my face lands. So I've had it in my mouth, but that comes nowhere close to what that tasted like in that tank. That was just nasty. It was the worst thing I've had in my mouth that I can ever remember.
