Reindeer Jewels & 100 Year Old Eggnog

Here at Fear Factor, we think there's no better way to celebrate the holidays than to gather with friends, cozy up to a warm fire, and enjoy a yummy feast of reindeer testicles and 100 Year Old Eggnog. Fear Factor contestant Darlene Randles tells us why she might never drink eggnog again.

FEAR FACTOR: So tell us what it was like eating reindeer testicles.

DARLENE RANDLES: They had a casing that was so hard to digest and chew. They exploded in your mouth when you put them in there and it was all warm and just totally gross. Just chewing the outer part was the hardest for me to get down. I had to chew it up as much as possible and then swallow.

FEAR FACTOR: And how about the 100-year-old egg nog?

DARLENE RANDLES: The eggnog was totally disgusting and pureed and creamy. It was really sour and mushy and it got stuck in your teeth. That smell really stayed with me. It did not leave the stomach. I had to keep eating food afterward because I was just so disgusted. I wanted to get the taste out of my mouth.

FEAR FACTOR: You kept covering your ears as you ate. What was that all about?

DARLENE RANDLES: Actually it was Joe's fault because Joe started saying, "Let's make her throw up." So they just started to mimic throwing up by making the sound effects of throwing up. I was getting so grossed out and I was having a hard time swallowing it to begin with. When I saw everyone else do it, I went into it thinking, "Oh, this is going to be easy." When I had it in my mouth I was like, "Oh, I gotta get this down." And when they started making those noises I was like, "It's gonna come up, it's gonna come up." So I plugged my ears so I couldn't hear them. It almost came up a few times. I just had to keep swallowing it. And then after I thought I was going to throw up I had to wait for that minute. When the time was up I just started dry heaving into that can. I never ended up throwing up. I kinda wish I would have just to get that crap out of my system, but I never did.

FEAR FACTOR: What was it like going last?

DARLENE RANDLES: I thought going last sucked. It kind of spooks you out. It's more of a mental game because when you're last you wait and wait for your turn. Going last was also horrible because they all started trying to make me throw up and I was super nice to all them. I shouldn't have been so nice. I should have been trying to make them throw up.

FEAR FACTOR: Was eating the reindeer testicles and 100-year-old eggnog a big accomplishment for you?

DARLENE RANDLES: I was actually pretty impressed that I made it through. I'm not one that eats nasty stuff. I'm pretty picky when it comes to certain food with certain textures.

FEAR FACTOR: Have there been any lasting effects from your Fear Factor eating experience?

DARLENE RANDLES: Since then I can't even eat sausage. At least for the first few months, when I tried to eat sausage I would gag and I couldn't even eat eggs. The smell of eggs was like.damn. I was like "Why can't I eat these? They taste gross. They smell like reindeer balls and 100 year old eggnog!"

FEAR FACTOR: With the holiday season upon us, have you found yourself drinking much eggnog at home?

DARLENE RANDLES: I haven't. I wanted to buy some but I was so afraid. But that 100-year-old eggnog tasted nothing like eggnog. It was not sweet. It was like sour mush. It was really gross.
